JSU Accreditation Site Visit

Jacksonville State University recently underwent a very thorough and rigorous site visit by representatives from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The university received high praise by the commission and in a meeting attended by CAHS faculty and staff, Dr. Killingsworth mentioned that participation by our college was a key component in the success of this very important step in the accreditation process. According to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), accreditation serves as a mechanism to ensure and enhance the quality of higher education. It aids institutions and programs by applying a set of standards formulated by peers. When an institution or program successfully completes the accreditation process, it demonstrates that it has the necessary instructional resources, student support, and other services to help students achieve their educational objectives. This process has enabled the U.S. to establish a diverse, adaptable, and highly regarded higher education system.
