All are welcome at the English Department Reading Series’ “Game Studies Panel,” featuring four faculty who will share their research and help advertise JSU’s new Game Studies minor. The event, which will be held on Wednesday, November 2, from 3pm – 4pm in the Merrill Hall Auditorium, will be moderated by English Instructor Tanya Sasser.
Dr. Michael Boynton, Associate Professor of Theatre, will present “The History of Video Games,” which is also the topic of a class he teaches. Assistant Professor of History Dr. Lance Ingwersen will be presenting “Boosting Student Engagement through Games.” He is currently co-teaching an interdisciplinary course based on the educational game called Reacting to the Past. Dr. Cara Messina, an Assistant Professor of English, will deliver “Feminism in Doki Doki Literature Club.” Rounding out the panel is Assistant Professor of Art History Dr. Tray Ridlen, who will discuss “Building Board Games,” the topic of a course he typically teaches in the summer.
