Evie Vaughn, a sophomore majoring in integrated studies, is originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Jacksonville in 2020. She is currently serving as an ambassador for the College of Arts and Humanities, and she plans to study abroad in London during winter break.
When did you know that JSU was the right school for you?
I knew JSU was the right school for me after visiting the campus and seeing the culture around the University.
What are some benefits of your major?
I love being able to focus on multiple different paths of study in the integrated studies major. For my focus, I am learning about anthropology, geography, and art. I enjoy being able to merge the subjects I am interested in and create a degree in something I am passionate about.
What is your favorite thing about JSU?
I love the culture around campus. I enjoy being greeted with kindness by strangers and being able to make and see many friends. I also enjoy the ability to have one-on-one instruction.
What clubs/organizations are you involved in?
JSU Fuego Ultimate frisbee.
What is one way that you have grown during your time at JSU?
I have really been able to step out of my comfort zone and grow into a person I am proud of, while being in a safe and friendly environment.
What is your favorite course that you have taken?
Human Geography with Dr. Catlin.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I would like to go to graduate school for museum curation in hopes to further my education and connect my paths of interest.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I am a twin, and my twin also goes to JSU.
What advice do you have for first-year students?
Don’t feel pressured to take too many hours or to do too much your first year. Slow down, learn how you study and how you learn. Your education and time are important so make sure you are actively participating before adding all extracurriculars and other stuff in.
