GAMECOCK ARTS SUMMER PROGRAMS 2024

GAMECOCK ARTS SUMMER PROGRAMS 2024 was a stellar success. This is the product of teamwork between colleagues and the campers alike, making it a wonderful week. GASP is an opportunity for students to experience college-level art and performance activities in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences. These programs are geared towards talented students who are serious about furthering their Arts and Humanities Education. The classes and workshops are taught by faculty, staff, and students of the Art & Design, Film & Theatre, Music, and English departments. In addition to participating in workshops, performances, and art shows, the students also have recreation time, allowing them to network with their peers across disciplines.

This year’s camp ran June 3-7, with 33 campers attending workshops in Musical Theatre, Creative Writing, and Visual Art. This year’s theme was “Courageous,” and the campers all had a blast, building awesome work and performances. We would like to give a huge thanks to Morgan Worsham, Emily Duncan, Esther Shull, Caroline Rogers, Alison Woodward, Shellie Beeman, Anna Haas, Patrice Anderson, Sarah Ellis, Mary Dunn, Kimberly Ann Southwick-Thompson, Tim Lockette, Dacey Dunaway, Zoe Chuang, Tracy Casey, Seth Johnson, Tim Lindblom, and every Administrative Assistant and support staff that lended a hand. The week would not have been a success without each and every one!

We are extremely grateful to the contributors who helped us scholarship 19 of the participants this year: Knox, Bill & Debra Whittaker, Karen & Kelly Gregg, and the Duncans.

Lastly, we appreciate the parents who gave your students the opportunity to learn and grow here at JSU, and we look forward to next year!
